Room 15's Operetta video

Room 14%2F15 from Ham East on Vimeo.

Operetta

After weeks of practice, our Room 14 and 15 stars performed their part in our school's Operetta "Dinosaurs and all that Rubbish".

Everyone worked hard to learn the song and the actions, to remember their positions on stage, and the cues and timing for coming on and off stage.

What a huge success and a great experience in the Performing Arts for a group of 6- and 7-year olds, we were so impressed with them!

We all enjoyed watching the full Operetta performance, and learning how our part fitted in with the whole story. We particularly loved the Bollywood dancing, the Money dance with 'Donald Trump,' the robots, and the giant inflatable dinosaur!

Here is some of our writing:

At the Operetta I saw Bollywood dancers and kiwis and the story and the dinosaur and the robots. I saw the Earth and builders and the rockets and the suns and paradise and stars.

Paper craft creations

We are really enjoying all sorts of paper craft in Room 15 at the moment - there is an insatiable demand for paper at Taakaro Time, and at any other opportunity!

We are using our imaginations and developing our technological and planning skills, as well as fine motor skills and teamwork skills (lots of our projects are cooperative efforts).

 Making armour...
Creating a computer.

Designing a game.

Designing an ideal house.

Designing a character for a game.

Creating a poster using teamwork.
Designing a headband for camouflage in the bamboo.

The Sun and the Earth

We have been learning about the Earth and the Sun. This is what we wrote:

The sun is hot and bright.

By Abheyjot

The Earth is going around  the sun.

By Chloe

Inside the sun is hotter than the outside of the sun.

By Ello

It takes a whole year for the Earth to revolve around the sun.

By Rudransh

The Earth goes around the sun and one side gets the sun and one side does not get the sun.

By Olive

The Earth goes spinning around the sun.

By Anahera

The Earth goes around the sun and the sun is a star.
By Alex

The Earth is going around the sun and one side is night time and the other side is day time.

By Vienna-Lee

The sun looks like it’s moving but it’s not it is the Earth that is moving.

By Blake

The Earth rotates and the sun stays in one spot.

By Daniel

The Earth is going around the sun.

By Maryam

The Earth revolves around the sun.

By Levi

The Earth rotates and spins around the sun also it takes one year to go around the sun.

By Ryan

At school I am learning about the sun. It is hot and the Earth is warm. I know the Earth goes around the sun.

By Annabelle

The Earth moves around the sun and we live on the Earth.

By Mannat

I know that the Earth spins around the sun. The sun always stays in the same place.

By Hailey

We were following the sun. The Earth moves around the sun and the moon comes around the sun.

By Zainab

The Earth is a planet. The Earth is tilted so there are seasons.

By Hugo
If there was no sun the Earth would be a big ball of ice.

By Max

If there was no sun the Earth would be a frozen ball.

By Thomas

The Earth actually spins around the sun. So the sun doesn’t move and it takes 365 days. The Earth spins on its axis. That is called rotation.

By Jace

The Earth spins on its axis and it goes day and night, and the Earth revolves around the sun.

By Alice

The Earth takes a whole year to revolve around the sun. If there was no sun the Earth would be a big ball of ice.

Jack and the Beanstalk

We have been writing about Jack and the Beanstalk. These are our ideas about what might have happened after Jack stole the goose that laid the golden egg, got away from the giant and chopped down the beanstalk...

Dad said “What should we do with this egg?” Mum said “I know, we can make it into gold.” “No,” said Jack, “We should give it away.” And they did.

By Blake

  1. The giant stomped on the cloud.
  2. The giant roared because he was mad.

By Max

Once upon a time a boy named Jack wanted to get money but he got a bean. He climbed the tree and he saw a giant.

By Ryan

First they have the best things in the world, but the first customer swapped the golden egg with a fake egg and they forgave the customer, but they had a happy ending.

By Jace

Jack and his mum were poor but the goose laid a golden egg. Then they sold the egg and they got rich and bought a mansion. They were happy.

By Hugo

Jack goes in the cave and sees a taniwha.

By Alex

The giant stomped and roared and a man climbed up and the giant chased the man. They lived happily ever after in the end.

By Olive

Jack and his mother bought some food with the golden eggs. They bought some broccoli and some other food.

By Hailey
Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack. He grew a beanstalk, then he climbed the beanstalk. A giant was awake. Then Jack reached the beanstalk. Soon he cut the beanstalk. Then the giant died.

By Mannat

Once upon a time there was a shop filled with golden eggs. A girl bought the golden egg. She cracked the golden egg, but the egg was gold. The girl threw all of her eggs in the bin except for the golden egg.

By Levi

The giant did not make it because the beanstalk was falling.

By Alice

I think that the giant died.

By Thomas

The giant is not happy because Jack took the bean and he took it to Mum and he put the bean in the grass then it grew and grew. The giant growled and he got down from the beanstalk. Jack’s mum and Jack were not happy because the egg cracked.

By Zainab

Jack got the golden egg.

By Annabelle

Jack went up the beanstalk and went to the castle and he took the goose and he went down.

By Rima

Jack sold his cow for money and a man gave Jack a magic seed and he planted it and then he climbed up the beanstalk.

By Vienna-Lee

The giant died.

By Ello

Jack climbed the beanstalk and got money.

By Maryam

Jack climbed up and the castle fell down.
