Room Fifteen have been learning about the water cycle. We were amazed about how thousands of tiny raindrops all glistening in the sun can create the beauty of a rainbow. We decided to find out how the rainbow got its colours.
We found out that rainbows are formed from light refracting through a drop of rain or mist. Because there are seven colors in the spectrum, a rainbow will always only have the same seven colors (and in the same order!).

Take a look at our science experiment in class "creating a rainbow".
Step 1: We shined a light through a jar of water. We could only see a tiny rainbow.
Step Two: We used a CD sprayed with water which helped to refract the torch light more. Hey Presto.. a rainbow shining bright.
The colours of the Rainbow:
Red, Orange,Yellow,Green,Blue,Indigo, Violet
