Thanks to the Stars from the Hamilton Cricket Association Room 15 got to hone their  Cricket skills last week.
We learnt how to correctly catch a ball by holding our hands in a cup like position, and careful to keep your eye on the ball!
'HOWZAT'...we screamed as we found learning Cricket skills fun, with many games to improve our eye hand coordination and teamwork.
Now we all feel like the Black Caps, ready to hit a six, bowl someone out or take the winning catch.
Room 15 is now looking forward to next years Cricket World Cup here in NZ.

Herb Posies

'Money doesn't Grow on Trees'  was our Inquiry Unit theme this term.
But Room 15 discovered that trees/plants we grow ourselves can save us money.

The amazing chalk drawings of our individual Posies from herbs we grew ourselves.

Happy we have grown these herbs with care and attention, I wonder how they will taste in our food?

Can you identify these common herbs? How many of these do you have growing in your garden at home?

A Herb Posie made for Principal Pippa

As you can see we captured lots of detail and used lines and shading when completing our chalk drawings.
Look at the amazing artists we have in Room 15

Here we decorate our herb garden container with Pukekos

Firstly we added fresh soil to anchor and feed our herbs

Everyone wanted to get involved.....

adding a scoop of soil per person and planting our herbs

Our herbs growing in the light of the classroom window.  After a few days we had to move our container outside because the plants were not getting enough light.

Many hands make light work and we had so much fun 'mucking in'

Cross Country

We all tried very hard to do our best and run our fastest.   Most importantly, everybody finished the race and nobody gave up.

At the cross country I was very fast at running.  Then I slowed down because it was a very hard job.  My favourite part was running up the hill.  When the person banged the wood I ran fast but then the other girls went faster.  It was very hot when I ran.  When I was hot it looked like I had been running in the hot desert because the sun shone brightly on my face.   Ria

On the 27th we did the cross country.  I was thinking that it would be boring but it was actually fun!  I saw my dad in his ute but he didn't see me.  Im pretty sure it was dad.  I felt puffed - really puffed.   It felt like my heart was going to explode.  People were screaming at me.  I felt embarrassed.  Aniisa was calling my name  '' Tia Tia Tia." I was in 6th place, Ava was 5th.  Tia

I ran my hardest on the cross country.  My mum was so proud of me when I came 6th.  After that we went to Yoghurt Story.  Then we went to the library.  In the cross country I ran past Ivan and Kayden.  I managed to get in 6th place although I wish I had come first or second.  My brother came second.  He got a certificate at postive assembly.  Jack

Here we are warmed-up and ready to run our fastest.  Go Room 15 boys go!
