Clay Coil Pots

Using clay makes your hands sticky and gooey but it's so much fun!
We rolled and shaped it and pressed it into pots.

We had to persevere and sometimes we even had to squash our pots and start again.

We had to use a little bit of water on our finger to glue it together and then press the clay down carefully.

We dry our pots for a couple of weeks and then they can be fired at a very high temperature.

Measurement

This week we are learning about Measurement.
We are trying to measure to the nearest cm.

Here we are using string to mark off the distance.  Then we can find out how long our arms are.

We used our rulers to design a house and then we measured our plans in cm. If we built our house to scale I wonder how many metres it would be?

Peace Runners

This week we had a visit from the Sri Chinmoy Peace Runners.

Some of us even got to hold the Peace Torch.  It is a symbol of world friendship.
