Bread and Butter

Miss Langdon brought all the ingredients

We had a lot of fun making our own bread rolls.

We used the recipe in this school journal.

The yeast came to life when we put it into warm, sugary water. It grew bigger and made bubbles.

We all took turns to help make the bread.
We rolled and kneaded the dough before we made it into rolls.

We had oil on our hands to stop the dough from sticking to us.  It felt a bit strange!

We put the rolls onto a tray ready to be baked in the oven.

The rolls were DELICIOUS and we wanted to eat more!

And guess what?  We even made our own butter to spread on the rolls.

Tane Mahuta Day

Our class learnt about the giant Kauri tree called Tane Mahuta.  It is very old but we don't know exactly how old it is.  Tane Mahuta is somewhere between 1,250 and 2,500 years old!!!!  It lives up north in the Waipoua forest.
We did some measuring to see how long Tane Mahuta would be if it was lying along the ground.
Here is a video showing what we found out.
