On Monday, the whole school were privileged enough to visit Hukanui Marae. Hukanui is a local marae of Tainui and Ngāti Wairere, and also happens to be Whaea Robyn's marae!
We got to listen to pūrākau (stories) from kaumātua about how the marae got its name, explore the marae grounds and sketch some places around the marae that we found interesting. We even were lucky enough to find a tree with a birds nest at the top!
Akomanga 15 would like to give a big mihi to Whaea Robyn for organising this trip to Hukanui Marae. Here are some photos from our awesome day.
