Volcano facts Lava can reach 1,250*C and has the potential burn everything in its path! If you used a glass thermometer to take the temperature it would melt About 1,900 volcanoes on Earth are considered active and are likely to explode again. The soil near volcanoes is said to be rich and fertile is why some people actually set up homes on the slopes. Maleo birds use the heat from volcanoes to hatch their eggs

Education is our treasure Our school is fill of magical things like writing, drawing, maths and reading. We share and help each other to do our very best. We go to school five days a week to keep our treasure nice and safe. We do our best known matter how hard it gets. We ask for help when it gets to hard. When we are feeling sad about what someone did. We try to understand how it was when we didn't know what to do. We are learners of treasure. We try our best at everything. We like to use our heads and hands to learn. If we follow the rules and do our best. Our education treasure will stay for life. By Tangiria and Evelin.

Looking for Santa
It was a chilling night in the north pole . Izrayal and me were
serching for santa. We were on a white polar bear .Then suddenly a humongous iceberg plopped out. But it was lucky for us that we did not die. The polar bear took us across the long cold sea. We had nothing to eat but there were big marshmallows. We dug in and stuffed our mouths . Then we found santas' secret hideout. We demanded him to give us chocolate and he did .The sky was glowing like fireflies. It was a wonderful day we said" .As we set off for our next adventure.

Cave Artwork
We went to the Ruakuri bush walk on Wednesday morning. When we got there we had morning tea . After we did our booklets we had lunch. After lunch we went on our bush walk to the caves. It was so cool. We saw some stalagmites and stalactites. We made our own cave with stalactites . On the cave we made some animal cave paintings. We spray painted a brown peace of paper then scrunched it all up. Then we stapled it up on the ceiling. Then we stapled the animal on top of the cave. Our cave looks amazing with stalactites !! You need to come and see for yourself in Room 15 😄

When I was asleep. I got a big surprise. I woke up. There was nothing there. My sister must have woken me up or maybe not.
maybe It must be the Twins screaming down the stairs or
may be not them either. It must be grandma waking up or
not her. It could be my poppa watching the rugby maybe.
I was with my sister. I felt shy and scared. It could be a
Car turning on. Actually I don't know what it was . May be you could help me ...........😇

Emergency Services
We were lucky to have someone coming from St.Johns to educate us on different emergency services we have and which one to use in case of an emergency.
We learned to call 111, talk to the operator and answer all the questions calmly and correctly.
We also learned what to do in case someone is bleeding - pack it , wrap it and lift it.
In the end we had an opportunity to look inside the ambulance.
We had lots of fun learning all this !

A person called Daniel told us about stopping the blood from your hand. We need bandage to pack the hand, then wrap it and finally you lift the hand so the blood stops dripping and goes in your body. Then we had a look in the ambulance it had this blue bed for the hurt people, also we had a loud noise contest . We had to see who was louder, the ambulance or us . We thought it was us .

If I had a power
If I had power it would be invisibility power . A bad thing i would do is I can get a pillow and hit someone. Another thing i would do is i can turn invisible and cut someone's hair. One more , actually 2 more is - I can act like a ghost and I can steal things from a shop but good thing is a I can catch a robber. I can sneak up on them and call the police and make sure they go to jail . That is why I want a super power.

Why do we wear a seatbelt?
A seatbelt holds you so you don't hit your head on the glovebox.
The seatbelt helps people from getting hurt and holds on to you
,it keeps you safe. I wonder what it would feel like if there was no such thing as a seatbelt ! It is also the law to were a seatbelt because a seatbelt straps you in and holds you tight. It is important to were a seatbelt all the time.

A Colour Symphony !
Room 15 did a science experiment using whole milk, food colouring and liquid soap. We learned that when we drop liquid soap onto the milk, it tried to break down the fat in the milk. While it was doing that, it caused the colours to scatter and mix creating a very colourful display!
Pour the milk into the tray. |
Add about 6-8 drops of different food coloured food colouring onto the milk. |
Tip about 5 drops of the liquid soap onto the drops of food colouring. |
Watch the show! Colours started to scatter and mix creating a very colourful display. |

Visit to Hukanui Marae
The whole school visited Whaea Robyn's marae. We were welcomed on with a pouwhiri, then we went inside the wharenui and listened to stories of the people of the marae. After morning tea, we did some sketching. The Koruru looked a bit funny with its big eyes and three little teeth. We finished the visit with our Kapa Haka group performing. They were amazing! Please visit the Hamilton East School page on facebook if you would like to see more photos of our visit.
